To successfully claim a VAT refund on your Amazon purchases:
- use the Zapptax billing address corresponding to the country where your order is delivered;
- double-check the billing details before paying;
- download the final invoice once your order has been shipped;
- if Amazon issues several invoices, upload each one separately to Zapptax;
- keep the goods with you until you leave the European Union.
How to claim a VAT refund on an Amazon order with Zapptax
To get a VAT refund on an Amazon purchase, you need to use Zapptax’s details as your billing information, retrieve your invoice and upload it to the app.
Here’s how.
Step 1: Get your Zapptax billing address
Before placing your order, create your Zapptax account and retrieve the billing address you need to use.
For online purchases, the Zapptax address must correspond to the country where your order is being delivered.
For delivery in France:
Zapptax
23, rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau
75001 Paris
For delivery in Belgium:
Zapptax
Rue du Boulet, 42
1000 Brussels
VAT No.: 0670 776 774
Step 2: Use Zapptax as your billing address on Amazon
When placing your order, use your own address for delivery and the Zapptax address for billing.
The two addresses do not need to be the same.
For example, your order can be delivered:
- to your hotel;
- to your holiday rental or temporary accommodation;
- to a friend or relative;
- to a compatible pickup point.
The address shown on the invoice must use the Zapptax details corresponding to the country where the order is delivered.
If Amazon asks for an email address for billing purposes, use the email address associated with your Zapptax account.

What should you check before confirming your Amazon order?
Before completing your payment, pay particular attention to the billing address and the expected delivery date.
Your order must arrive early enough for you to collect the goods before leaving the European Union.
Make sure:
- the Zapptax billing address is correct;
- VAT is included in the order;
- delivery is scheduled before your departure;
- you will be able to take the goods with you when leaving the EU.
You can also place your order before arriving in France or Belgium, provided that you collect the goods afterwards and take them with you when leaving the European Union.
How to find your Amazon invoice after placing an order
Once your order has been shipped, you can usually download your invoice directly from your Amazon account.
Please note that your order confirmation is not the final invoice required by Zapptax.
To find your invoice:
- go to Accounts & Lists;
- click on Your Orders;
- select the relevant order;
- open the Invoice section and download the available document.

Then check that the invoice includes the correct purchase details as well as the Zapptax billing information.
Why can one Amazon order generate several invoices?
A single Amazon order may sometimes generate several invoices, for example when items are shipped separately or sold by different sellers.
In this case, simply download each invoice corresponding to the products for which you want to claim a VAT refund and upload them one by one to the Zapptax app.
What should I do if my Amazon invoice is not available?
If your invoice does not appear immediately, first wait until your order has been shipped. The final invoice is generally made available once the goods have been dispatched.
If you still cannot find it:
- open Your Orders;
- select the relevant purchase;
- look for Invoice or Get invoice;
- if necessary, use the option provided by Amazon to request the document from the seller.
Once you receive the invoice, quickly check the billing address. If it is incorrect, contact the seller or Amazon Customer Service as soon as possible, before your departure.
How to upload your Amazon invoice to Zapptax
Once you have downloaded your invoice, upload it directly to the Zapptax app.
If your order includes several invoices, upload them separately.
In the app:
- click Add an invoice;
- select the relevant country;
- enter the total amount including VAT;
- upload your invoice as a PDF or image;
- submit the document.
Depending on your purchase, Zapptax may ask you for additional supporting documents, such as proof of payment. For certain electronic products, the serial number may also be required.
What is the minimum amount required for an Amazon VAT refund?
In France, the minimum purchase amount required to qualify for a VAT refund is €100.01.
With Zapptax, you do not need to spend this amount on Amazon alone. You can combine several eligible purchases made in France.
For example, your Amazon order can be combined with a purchase made on Fnac.com, at Galeries Lafayette, or in another store during your stay.
How to validate your Amazon VAT refund before leaving
Once your invoices have been added to Zapptax and you have reached the required minimum amount, you can generate your tax-free form directly in the app.
When leaving the European Union, remember to have it validated by Customs.
Keep your purchases easily accessible as well, as Customs may ask to inspect the goods.
If you are leaving from France, check out our guide explaining how to validate your tax-free form at a PABLO kiosk.
